Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Welcome to Murder Sudoku ("the Game", "we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the Game collects, how it is used and shared, and the rights you have. It applies to all users of Murder Sudoku on Android devices distributed through the Google Play Store.

By downloading, installing or using Murder Sudoku, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. Murder Sudoku is designed to be enjoyed by players of all ages, including children under 13, so we operate the Game under child-directed rules at all times (see Section 9).

2. Summary

• We do not ask for or collect your name, email, phone number or precise location.
• We show non-personalised, child-directed ads only (Google AdMob).
• Purchases and subscriptions are handled entirely by Google Play Billing; we never see your card details.
• Your progress, coins, hints, collectible cards and settings are stored on your device, not on our servers.
• We do not sell or trade your data, and we do not build advertising profiles.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Google AdMob (advertising)

The Game uses Google AdMob to show ads (including interstitial and rewarded ads), configured for child-directed treatment, which disables personalised advertising. In this mode AdMob may process: a device identifier used only for frequency capping and fraud prevention (not behavioural targeting); approximate location from IP address; device type, OS version and language; ad events (impressions, clicks, load times); and network type. AdMob is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

3.2 Purchases and subscriptions

The Game offers optional in-app purchases (removing ads, star packs, hint packs, card packs, the starter bundle) and auto-renewing subscriptions (e.g. the VIP Pass and the ×2 Stars subscription). All payments are processed by Google Play Billing. We never receive or store your payment-card information. Purchase/subscription state is stored locally to unlock content and validate entitlements.

3.3 Data stored only on your device

Game progress; virtual balances (Stars and Hints); collectible cards and the Almanac; which packs/subscriptions/offers have been claimed; settings; and technical integrity keys held in the device keystore to protect your save from tampering (not personal information).

3.4 Crash & performance data

We may receive aggregated, anonymised crash and performance reports via Google Play Console and/or Firebase Crashlytics, used only to fix bugs. We do not knowingly collect microphone, camera, contacts, photos, health or precise GPS data.

4. How We Use Information

• Show contextual, non-personalised advertising (child-directed).
• Verify and deliver purchases and manage subscription entitlements.
• Save and restore your progress, balances and collection on your device.
• Diagnose crashes and improve stability.
• Comply with legal obligations (COPPA, GDPR, CCPA).

5. What We Do NOT Do

• Build behavioural or personalised advertising profiles.
• Sell, rent or trade your data.
• Track you across other apps or websites.
• Send you marketing messages.
• Knowingly collect personal information from children (see Section 9).

6. Sharing of Information

We may also disclose information where required by law, court order or a competent authority, or to protect our legal rights or the safety of users.

7. In-App Purchases, Virtual Items and Subscriptions

• Virtual items and currencies (Stars, Hints, cards, card packs) have no real-world monetary value, cannot be redeemed for cash and are non-transferable.
• Card packs grant randomised cards by rarity; the drop rates are disclosed inside the Game before purchase, per Google Play rules.
• Consumables are delivered immediately and are generally non-refundable once delivered, except where required by law or Google Play policy.
• Subscriptions (VIP Pass, ×2 Stars) are auto-renewing; billing, renewal, price and cancellation are managed by Google Play. Cancel any time from your Google Play account.

All purchases require Google Play authentication.

9. Children's Privacy (COPPA & Google Play Families)

• No collection of children's personal information (name, email, phone, precise location, photos, or any identifying/contact data).
• Child-directed advertising: AdMob runs with child-directed treatment (e.g. setTagForChildDirectedTreatment(true)); no personalised or interest-based ads, only contextual Families-compliant ads.
• Purchases & parental controls: a parental gate protects purchases and external links; all payments require Google Play authentication. We encourage parents to enable Google Play purchase approvals, PIN/biometric confirmation, spending limits and Family Link.
• Parental rights: if you believe we inadvertently collected a child's personal information, email us (subject "COPPA Parental Request — Murder Sudoku"); we will confirm, provide access to and/or delete it.

We also comply with applicable regional requirements for minors, including newer age-assurance and parental-consent rules where they apply.

10. European Users — GDPR

If you are in the EEA, UK or Switzerland, our legal bases are legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)), contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) and legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)). You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability, and to complain to your Data Protection Authority. Email us (subject "GDPR Request — Murder Sudoku"); we aim to respond within 30 days.

11. California Residents — CCPA/CPRA

You have the right to know, delete, opt out of sale/sharing (we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising) and non-discrimination. Email us (subject "CCPA Privacy Request — Murder Sudoku").

12. Data Security

• All communication with third-party services uses TLS/HTTPS.
• We do not operate our own servers that store personal data.
• Local data is kept in Android's protected application storage; integrity keys are held in the device keystore.

No system is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security of data sent over the internet.

13. Third-Party Links & Advertising

Ads may lead to third-party websites or apps when tapped (after the parental gate, where applicable). We are not responsible for their privacy practices.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. Material changes update the "Updated" date and are posted here; significant changes may also be announced in-app. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
